Best Time to Visit
May–October is the dry season with clear mountain views. The Inca Trail is closed in February.
Weather & Seasons
The Cusco region has a high-altitude tropical climate with a clear wet season (November–March) and dry season (April–October). Temperatures vary dramatically with altitude — Machu Picchu at 2,430m is warmer than Cusco at 3,400m.
Dry Season
May – Oct
Clear blue skies and cool nights. Ideal for Inca Trail trekking and Machu Picchu photography.
Shoulder Season
Apr & Nov
Transitional months with some rain and some sun. Fewer tourists with reasonable conditions.
Wet Season
Dec – Mar
Heavy rain and lush green mountains. Inca Trail closed in February. Machu Picchu is misty and atmospheric.
