June–September is peak season. December–February is an excellent quieter alternative. Gorilla permits must be booked 3–6 months ahead. Akagera has no booking constraints.

Fitness Level

Easy to Moderate. Akagera game drives are easy. Gorilla trekking is moderate (1–6 hours at altitude). Golden monkey tracking is easy to moderate. Overall the itinerary is comfortable.
