About This Tour
This focused 5-day Rwanda safari delivers two of East Africa's most extraordinary primate encounters — mountain gorilla trekking and golden monkey tracking — in the dramatic volcanic landscape of the Virunga Massif. Rwanda's gorilla experience is widely regarded as the most refined in Africa: the habituated families are exceptionally well-studied, the rangers are brilliant, and the access from Kigali airport (just 90 minutes' drive) makes this arguably the easiest gorilla safari on the continent. The golden monkey — a brilliantly orange-gold Cercopithecus found only in the Virungas — is rarely seen outside this park, and an encounter with a habituated troop in the bamboo forest is a delight often overshadowed by the gorillas but beloved by everyone who does it. Luxury lodge accommodation in the Virunga foothills completes the experience.
